CRSSD Fall 2016 Review
wow hi

CRSSD Fest, a festival featuring prominent electronic and dance artists, took place over the weekend at Waterfront park in downtown. We were stoked to cover the festival, and with two days of great weather, the festival delivered an amazing weekend. Here are some words on the many sets we saw over the weekend.

FKJ amped up the festival, playing early Saturday. His groovy, funky style of DJing was a crowd favorite; switching rapidly between the guitar, keys, and saxophone to place fresh riffs among his signature colorful synths. Listen to:

Sophie’s experimental take proved popular with the crowd; their set was packed with unique twists on most of their popular songs. Listen to:

The Oceanview Stage // Photo by Skyler GreenSpanning over three stages, the festival always had music playing. The oceanview stage, the largest of the three, was backed against the northern side of the waterfront, so airplanes descending into SAN regularly graced the stage’s background. And the music was loud enough that you couldn’t hear them! The lighting and effect setup on the oceanview stage really stood out from the other stages, as it featured large displays and amazing light programming.

Zhu closed out the festival on the second day with an amazing set that really highlighted their recently released album, Generation Why. Listen to:
